WE ARE (b)REWING A BETTER FUTURE

At Co.Br.Ha., the group behind Brouwerij Haacht, we take our responsibility seriously, today and tomorrow. We are committed to people, society, the environment, and our products: in everything we brew and every action we take. Below, you can read about our concrete approach.

AT HOME IN HAACHT AND BOORTMEERBEEK, WITH A HEART FOR THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Our brewery is located right in the heart of the Haacht and Boortmeerbeek community, literally. Over the years, residential areas have grown up around our site, and we view this as a responsibility: we ensure that local residents are not inconvenienced by our activities. This same location also ensures local roots and employment, providing jobs for more than three hundred employees. We also take responsibility beyond our walls, including through our commitment to responsible beer consumption, working hand in hand with the Belgian Brewers and the well-known BOB campaigns.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

As a family-owned business, we feel a strong responsibility toward a sustainable, inclusive, and healthy society. We base this commitment on four equal pillars: people, society, the environment, and our products. For us, this means being more than just a brewery that makes excellent drinks: it also means helping to build the world in which we operate.

OUR CORE PILLARS

We focus our efforts where we can have the greatest impact.

  • PEOPLE

Our people are our greatest asset. We strive to create a healthy work environment where mental balance, physical health, and job satisfaction are central. Through training and coaching, we make a difference, and we promote a healthy lifestyle among our employees.

  • ENVIRONMENT

Throughout our production process, we constantly evaluate whether we are sufficiently considering the environment when choosing packaging materials and in our methods of processing, cleaning, producing, transporting, and recycling.

  • SOCIETY

To contribute to the society we are part of, we strive for systematic collaborations with charities linked to the sector in which we operate.

  • PRODUCT

In product development, we strive to expand our portfolio with a focus on everyone’s health and well-being. For example, we take into account calorie counts, as well as sugar and alcohol content.

Ongoing initiatives

Concrete steps we are taking today.

  • TARGET 2025

    100% electric local logistics

Switching our entire local distribution fleet to electric vehicles, thereby reducing urban emissions and noise pollution.

  • ONGOING

    Water recovery project

Upgrading our wastewater treatment plant to recover up to 40% of the water used in the brewing process and reuse it for non-production-related applications.

  • COMPLETED IN 2023

    Solar panel expansion

Successfully installed an additional 5,000 square meters of solar panels at the Boortmeerbeek site, generating 15% of our total energy needs.
